Heavy Duty Pot from MoreBeer.Com

So I got a 15 gallon heavy pot, BE315. WOW! That thing is bigger than I thought! It has a base of 18" I have a little 12" turkey fryer burner. Will this be big enough for my boil? I am supposed to do a barley wine this weekend, but don't want to be there all day trying is it will not be big enough. I think the BTU's are 45,000.
Thanks in advance.

45K BTU may or may not be enough. It all depends on the efficiency of the burner. That 45K is based on the amount of energy that could theoretically produced from the amount of gas that gets pumped through that burner in a given amount of time not the amount of energy actually produced. An efficient 45K burner could actually produce more heat than an inefficient 100K burner. You are going to have to fire up that sucker to find out. If it takes you 2 hours to bring that pot of wort to a boil, you will need a bigger burner. (Try bringing 12 gallons of warm water to a boil first to give you an idea how long it would take to bring that amount of wort to a boil). I would go with a Banjo Burner with a 30 psi regulator for that pot and 10 gallon batches.
