So I gave up on the HF. Found something called naval jelly. Its a phosphoric acid thick jelly. Good on vertical surfaces. Well it took off the rust as it was described, but let's see if it will stay gone! Gone be you nasty rust!

Forgot to say. HF is pretty nasty. I also think that it is to similar to HCl, and may cause pitting in stainless. Looking back, I wish I hadn't used it.
