Very cool UhrigBrauer. Where are the sharks with lazers?

It's still in the prototype phase, but overall about 90% fully automatic.

Features:
1. Automatic start of HLT. You set the time, it heats up to temp an hour before brew session.
2. Mash temp control through HERMS recirc.
3. Computer interface and control for temp, time. Data logged on computer graph and plotted.
4. Level sensor for HLT.
5. Can do boil and cool in same two vessels.
6. Brews 2.5 to 3 gallons of pre-fermentation wort based on what you want.
7. All electric and draws less than 13 amps.
8. Solenoid valves... Mash tun does get stuck open with piece of grain every once in a while..

Next step a better stand, pinch valve on mash tun, and a peristaltic pump so I don't have to mess with priming!!!!

The temperature graph wasn't stable in this photo due to me messing with it too much... Usually I hold the mash within 1 degree of target...

can you make beer with that?

You bet I can make beer with it!!!

Good beer at that! The pump is oriented properly with the out facing up so the air can bubble out. Problem is that it's trying to get through the Coil....

So another item to get, a ball valve with a air purge thinga-ma-jig... But, that is why I want to build a peristaltic pump for brewing... Then I won't have to worry about any stupid "priming".!!

Oh yeah, Sharks with lasers are on the agenda :jnj

Apparently you aren't the only one with that agenda.

I just looked at your pictures and thought, "mad scientist," then refined my thoughts to Dr. Evil.

Here's my electric HERMS system. Finished about the first of the year. On my 7th batch so far, still trying to get it dialed in just right. Sorry, but no pics of it hooked up and running.

I got a new sink, you can see my electric HLT just to the right of it. You can see my counterflow chiller on the bottom shelf.

You bet... Right now I can only brew in my apartment. Next up is the same system for 5 gallons on a 240 V line. The controls system is already built and the code is all there. All I need to do is change the hardware and make improvements on the pumping system and the valve on the mash tun...

Added handles and water-proof switch (for the pump). It was pretty windy today so I also bolted on some "wind screen".
