No worries. If you keep firing up those burners inches away from her maple cabinets - you will have your bachelorhood back.

Seriously bro... I hope you have some industrial vent in that kitchen. I have aspirations (no pun intended) of brewing inside with gas burners - but this is not at all what I had envisioned.

It's back already. The ex took a hike June 17, 2006 (Praise The Lord!), and the cabinets didn't even get warm.

I'm afraid these are not very high powered gas burners. They're some Chinese junk that will barely heat 6 gallons from RT to 180 in an hour.

I have one good burner that's in a jet cooker (not pictured), and I'm going to sub it on the BK side before the next brew. But believe me guys, I'm big on safety. My main concern was gas leaks (there were none). The dinky burners only ran one at a time, and it was cold as a rat's ass that day (20 F). No way I was going to brew outdoors.

I was on top of it. Honest. I work too hard for the privilege of living in this padded cave to burn it down or asphyxiate myself. And all that nice heat was used to warm the house instead of the woods.

That is probably one of the more expensive brew stands that are out there.

So far brewed 5 batches on it inside my apartment...

It's still in the prototype phase, but overall about 90% fully automatic.

Features:
1. Automatic start of HLT. You set the time, it heats up to temp an hour before brew session.
2. Mash temp control through HERMS recirc.
3. Computer interface and control for temp, time. Data logged on computer graph and plotted.
4. Level sensor for HLT.
5. Can do boil and cool in same two vessels.
6. Brews 2.5 to 3 gallons of pre-fermentation wort based on what you want.
7. All electric and draws less than 13 amps.
8. Solenoid valves... Mash tun does get stuck open with piece of grain every once in a while..

Next step a better stand, pinch valve on mash tun, and a peristaltic pump so I don't have to mess with priming!!!!

The temperature graph wasn't stable in this photo due to me messing with it too much... Usually I hold the mash within 1 degree of target...

Broken pix, brotha... I'd love to check it out. I remember talking about your automation project a while back.

What solenoid valves did you end up going with? Rock Candy put Asco Valves in his automation project (but hadn't tested them as of the writeup date).

It's hard to tell exactly from those pics, but it looks like you have the pump input on top. That'll definitely cause priming issues. You want the output on top...
