Peter & Jamil's NHC Tour - Pennsylvania Area

Sun Mar 03, 2013 10:16 am

Once again the intrepid Peter Symons and I will be touring around before the NHC this year. Got any great stops for us around the area? Maybe within a few hundred miles of Philly?

We're interested in breweries big and small (we prefer small), great homebrewers/homebrew clubs, and odd/strange Americana is always fun too. Our schedule is approximately June 20th through the 24th.

We won't be able to hit them all, but wherever we go, we'll try to let folks know if you'd like to join us for a beer.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Odd/Strange the mutter museum is a must, human oddities it's gross and cool :)

For breweries:

Troegs it's about 90 minutes outside of the city and it is a fantastic brewery. While you're there you can check out Hershey park, nothing really too exciting though

Victory is about 45 minutes and also has fantastic beer, but no tours (not that you need to see a brewer anyway :) )

Yards is in center city and has just okay beer.

Yeungling is also about 2 hrs outside of the city, they are a large scale brewery, but the oldest. You won't find and exciting beers there.

For shops
Keystone Homebrew is about 45 minutes outside the city and they are a sponsor of the BN should I'm sure they'd be happy to see you.

I don't suppose you're RVing it all the way from CA... where you might pass through Ohio... :?

I think both Peter and I would not survive such a trip. We're flying into Philly and then renting a car.

Was hoping this was the plan. I would have been able to give you a slew of places in St Louis to stop and visit.

I forgot to add, Sly Fox about 45 minutes from the city and about 15 minutes from Victory Brewing. I belive that they were on either the Session or Can you brew it.
They were the brewery that has the goat races.

and Lastly Appalachian Brewing Company is brew pub chain. Is just past Sly Fox. That have a few pretty good beers.
