Is this because of the dotw going away. I'm happy that it's gone, JP said it was 25% fake I'm thinking it was more 75%.

When I first heard him mention this, I was against it. Then listening to the DOTW calls that came in, I can now see their point. I think DOTW should only be held once a year, on Martin Luther the King weekend so Beevo can continue her tradition! Classis DOTW's!!

I like the idea of taking drunk calls randomly and awarding to those truly drunk calls.

Without a camera on the DOTW caller, whose to say if it's a real drunk or not? I suggest a follow up call on Monday to see if the winner is still in bed. When I won mine, I was curled up in bed until 5 pm Monday evening, and still had a hangover on Tuesday.

I just got to listen to the show this morning. I haven't quite finished it, but pretty close. As soon as J mentioned it, my first thoughts were right along with BrewTat's. It's definitely changed over the years & not for the better. It used to have that 'organic' feel (to use BrewTat's term). My idea is to open up the end of the show to callers. Not a scheduled DotW segment, but just for comments, questions, whatever. Someone just calling in because they're drunk would likely just be hung up on (who really gives a shit about resumes & related bs), but someone who's been drinking along with the show just wanting to make a comment about something could result in radio gold... especially if they're drunk enough to yield an 'Angry-Pies-esque' rant. Give out a DotW medal if someone deserves it, but don't allow anyone to think that there's going to be one given out no matter what.

No only real men don't realize they're dealing with drunk idiots & refuse to just let it blow over. I'd almost guarantee all of us have had to deal with a friend who got a little too drunk one night, decided to speak every drunken thought that came into their head that very second & was a complete asshole. Hell, I'd almost guarantee that over 95% of us have been that guy at least once. You just have to let it blow over & deal with it when everyone's calmed down & sobered up the next morning. No reason to lose a friend over & no reason to let it carry over to the next day. Fighting back against it while they're still drunk never comes to anything good.

The Session really would suck a lot of the time without your quick wit, crass jokes & blunt statements. You've rescued a ton of bits & segments. We need an I love NY shirt that says JP instead. I agree. The end segment is my favorite part of the show. I love the pointless banter that the DOTW bring, but it really makes my cringe sometime. So just open it up to callers and feedback if a genuine DOTW calls in cool

I'm listening to the show today at work. So no comments on that yet. But as for DOTW, I've always hated it. Some people are using it for their own grandstanding. I would really like to see what Darkside said, taking random drunk calls and or questions throughout the show. Awarding the truly great callers with gear, swag or something else.

You know Snow, you're really only proving my point. For one, had you burnt that hoodie on air, you probably would have won drunk of the week. I love that shit!

But more importantly, it boggles my mind that such aggression could come out of the mere idea/discussion of cancelling a segment that rarely works, only focuses on intoxication, and generally results in shitty radio anyway. It is my honest opinion that if the idea of cancelling the official drunk segment sets anyone off to that agree, there are some serious priority issues going on here and I'm not really interested in being a part of that.

I've got more on the subject, as there were others who lashed out in various places after my discussion of the topic, but I'll save it for the show. It appears, as I suspected anyway, that the vast majority of the listeners agree and understand that I'm not considering banning drunk calls, just losing the official segment and letting things happen naturally. By the end of any given year we will have a hand full of good drunk calls to give Drunk of the Year to.

In conclusion, don't be such a pussy. You just make for more fodder for me to abuse you with on air. And by all means, keep up the flag burning, it's fucking awesome and the only cool thing that came out of this little hissy fit!
