burned leaf edges on lower leaves

Wed May 20, 2009 9:10 am

I have what looks like burned leaves on the lower half of the hop bine. Any idea what this may be. It looks a little like the potassium deficiency on fresh hops site but the overall description doesn't match.

Thoughts?

Can you post a pic?

If we can't ID it and you're not on the grow-hops list I'll refer it to them.

Joined, thanks for the info.

As for the original question on the leaves burning: Is it possible you're overwatering your hops and causing cell death that way? When my 1st yr rhizome was placed outside the beginning of this season it rained enough to water log it and I had similar damage. Does it happen to look like dark green to black edges with a brittle feel on otherwise healthy leaves, only effecting a few of them? If so you're likely suffering the same thing.

I ended up fixing the problem by getting them transplanted into a properly draining mound, so you might want to check your drainage.

Water may be the issue because I have been soaking them every other day because we have had rain for a few days. Here are the pics.
