Great point. I would have forgotten that one. It will only go up a few ibu's but that is considerable for such a malty beer.

For once brewinhard did have a good point :wink:

I just assume that any sugar addition is going to be <5% of total fermentables so it won't make too much of a difference, plus when you factor in hop degradation from the numbers on the package, you'll likely be right about the same point. Not very scientific I know, but if you'd care to buy me that photospectrometer I've been wanting I'd be more than happy to run some tests for you. :D

I will be brewing it in January so I hope I can control my fermentation to get it up to the mid 70's. I'm hoping a heating blanket wrapped around the carboys will work in my basement which stays in the mid 60's all year.

I usually just calculate the +gravity points based on type and amount of sugar going into my batch size. A pound and a half of a 32ppg sugar source gives me 48 gravity points, divided among ~5 gallons will bump my OG by 9-10 points.
