Cut and paste into Google and it says:

1 pound per Fluid barrel = 0.507936508 ounces per US gallon

Your mileage may vary.

Upon further research, a fluid barrel is 31.5 Gallons, but a beer barrel is 31 Gallons.

Plug it back into google with "Beer" added and you get...

1 pound per US beer barrel = 0.516129032 ounces per US gallon

Either way it's about 1/2 as much.

Pounds is a weight unit. Ounces could either be weight or fluid units. There are 128 fluid ounces in a gallon. Depending on what the fluid is, there could be a wide range of weight answers expressed in ounces for that same gallon.

lb/barrel sounds like you are talking about weight. So the answer depends on what the contents of the barrel is, and what KIND of barrel you're talking about.

I'm really confused; probably shouldn't have answered at all.

Pounds of hops per barrel of beer right? It's easy, 16 ounces divided by 31 gallons. Right around a half ounce per gallon is 1oz/gal.

Wouldn't a half ounce per gallon be 0.5oz/gal?

Yes, I'm an idiot and meant 1 pound per barrel at that last part. Stupid phone typing. I lose track of what I'm saying halfway thru typing. Beers don't help that.
