Second runnings from Jamil's Spiced Holiday ale?

Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:24 am

I'm about to brew my annual Christmas Beer based on Jamils recipe (grain bill below). I'll be brewing 12 gallons. My lazy question here is; what would be a good 6 gallon batch of beer to brew from the 2nd runnings? Could I get a porter? Maybe an odd black IPA?

For 6 gallons:
Belgian Pale Ale 19 lbs, 8 oz
Briess 2 Row Caramel 80 0 lbs, 12 oz
Crisp Black Malt 0 lbs, 4 oz

I like the idea of the odd black IPA, since you're already doing a spiced ale.

Cap the mash with some extra 40 L crystal and victory or biscuit for a nice ESB.
