I am doing a starter today. I want to do 5500 ml of wort, how much DME to get about a 1.040 OG for the starters (2 X 2000 ml). Or better asked how much DME per 500 ML.
Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Thanks all, as normal I am over analyzing it…. I just modified my normal starte and got a 1.044 starter…. I hope it will work, see my next post about brewing American wheat for the next question….
I use the metric method, because it is really easy to scale. For example, my canning jars hold 800 ml to the right fill point. I weigh out 80 grams of DME, toss it in each jar, fill to the line. Done.
Same thing for most flasks, as they are mostly in metric.
