Re: McDole JBA attempt

Just pulled the blow off tube and replaced with the airlock. Took a gravity reading and it's already down to 1.014. Had hoped to finish higher, and it's still bubbling. Ah well... Probably rack it to the secondary tomorrow night right onto the dryhops.

Just realized I didn't follow up on this here.

JBA is almost 6 weeks in the bottle now. Had some on NYE which was a bit early. Went over very well with those who tried it.

Had some the other day, but I had started the night with a Stone IPA, so that kinda wrecked the pallet for anything after.

Just popped one a few minutes ago, and it's already gone. Tons of lacing left in the glass. Can't believe this is a 7% beer. Tastes crisp, bright, clean... nice hop aroma and flavor, but not overpowering. Not a big fan of English nut brown ale, but this is a completely different beast.

Still can't believe this is over 7% ABV, but it is.

I brought this along with the robust porter I brewed prior. Tons of coffee flavor in that porter. Both have been well received by friends... and that's including those who typically drink Mich Ultra. ;) Granted, those are the people who have one and switch due to concern about calories. Doh!
• considering: first lager
• primary:
• secondary:
• drinking: JBA batch #2
• bottle conditioning: Best Bitter
• recent past: (AG) Rye IPA rebrew; rye saison; BCS Cal Common, Rye IPA, Tasty APA, JZ's Cowboy Altbier
