Stuck fermentation

Sat Jan 30, 2010 11:33 am

So I have never run into this problem and its most likely because I'm impatient. my pale ale with burton ale yeast looks like it is done fermenting but has a inch or 2 layer of krausen on top. It has been exactly 1 week since pitching. There is minimal activity both in the airlock and in the beer itself. What should I do or should I do nothing and wait.

Gracias

Just took a hydrometer reading: 1.017

This is what Beersmith estimated my FG would be, should I wait for the krausen to drop or can I add my dry hops?

If it were mine, I would add the dry hops now and give the carboy/bucket a swirl.

sometimes the krausen just wont drop. TASTE your beer! if your not getting any off flavors like acetyladehide (green apple) diacytal (buttery) your probably alright to continue on.
If possible I would recommend cold crashing. The more yeast that you drop out of suspension the cleaner a dry hop character you will get
