Hello , I'm new at fermentation and ive been fermentering for 2 days now and the yeast is active and the foam has been going up and down automaticly and stuff but the airlock hasnt bubbled yet i belive it did once when i was sleeping cause i could see a bit of water changes in the airlock , However heres a picture from yeasterday , The mash is made of Sugar, Corn meal and bread yeast , a simple recipe that i found. Sorry for my bad english i am from sweden.

You ain't gonna drink all that at once are you! Don't loose no sleep over the airlock. Could be that it is not sealed tight. also looks like you might not have given yourself enough room to off gas. The airlock simply is just a means to keep things out basically and to expel the co2. If your yeastie are active its working but don't stress on the airlock. In this hobby that mash is a learning curve all in its self. Stay at it you'll have a blast.

I am not sure how to help. I have not used bread yeast, I have used purchased yeast for brewing. For the first day or so I normally use a blow off tube, befor the airlock. This allows me to let the excess foam to escape without making my air lock dirty. The bucket my blow off tube is in has a solution of vodka and water.



If your yeast is doing what it should it should be moving, if even just slowly. Your container is a lot smaller than what I use though. You might want to check the seal on the bottle, perhps your Co2 is escaping and not going through the airlock.

If it's not coming out the airlock, it's coming out somewhere else if you have active fermentation.

It looks as though fermentation is rolling along quite fine.

From the pic it looks like you drilled a hole in a screw-on cap for the airlock. My guess is it's leaking from a bad seal, either where the cap meets the bottle, or between the cap & airlock. You have a good fermentation going on, so the positive CO2 pressure should keep it safe. Unless you foam over on the outside of the bottle. Always overestimate the head-space you need for fermentation & the blow-off tube is an excellent idea.
