Chocolate and Beer Tasting

Tue Mar 02, 2010 4:54 am

I'm planning a beer and chocolate pairing for our club meeting and would like some feedback...

This is the list of beers I'm planning to use, as well as the order:
1 - Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo Especial
2 - Southern Tier Choklat
3 - The Bruery Papier
4 - Brooklyn Brewery Black Ops
5 - Stone Double Bastard

As alternates, I also have the following available:
AleSmith Grand Cru
Brooklyn Local No. 2
Bar Harbor Brewing Special Amber Ale

Does anyone have feedback on the beers selected? Swap out any with the alternates? Other recommendations? Order of tasting? Any chocolate recommendations? Once I have the beer list finalized, I'll go shopping for chocolate.

pick up a Southern Tier Crème Brûlée Imperial Milk Stout.

It is a great and complex beer and will pair well with a huge range of chocolate....though anything from their Dark Water Series is a good bet.

Maybe a rogue offering...Hazelnut Brown Nectar>?

I am sure it is too late, but 21st Amendment's Ripple Imperial Chocolate Porter is the best chocolate beer I've ever had. The the Southern Tier Choklat doesn't even come close.

For next time.
