Sierra Nevada restaurant

Um.
Food amazing.

Had the 16 glass sampler to start. Settled on pitchers of brown ale, kellerweis, and summerfest with friends.
Ate the wings. I love wings that show up with their fried skin still crunchy under the sauce. Excellent.

Ordered the tri-tip (you californian's and your new-fangled things). It came on a bed of gumbo and mashed potatoes (who the heck puts gumbo on mashed potatoes?).

Meat... ooooooh so good. Just the right amount of char. The cut lets this meat have a nice chew, but be tender at the same time and quite delicious. I'm told it's cows that live on their spent grain at their own farm. They are tasty cows. The gumbo was awesome, and the combo of beef on gumbo was surprisingly good. I was a bit wierded out by putting gumbo on anything but rice, but the potatoes were great. The whole dish was delicious from start to finish and I really loved the meat.

And the prices, btw, are amazingly cheap for the quality of food and atmosphere and service. It's cheaper than going to something like a Ruby Tuesday, and light years better.

Chico is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but everyone who can get there should go. You're right about the food. Everything I've had there is great, not just good, but great. The sampler is killer, and the beer prices are decent too. If you can make it there in October, you can get both the normal Harvest Ale and the Chico Estate Harvest, which I liked even better last year. They make it with the hops grown next to the brewery. It's a great trip for those who can make it.

I was going to just let it go, but I have to rep my Alma Mater. The cows are raised on spent grain at the Chico State Univeristy farm. It's on the outskirts of the town. And yes, they are tasty cows. You should try the bacon wrapped meatloaf.

Chico State & BN Army for life.

Hmm. Gumbo on mashed potatoes. That actually makes sense to me, in a weird sort of way.

just walking up to the SNBco pub the smell will make you drool....you get a nice pecan wood smoke mixed with the wort that is boiling away in the brewery.

did you know that SNBco has all their own cattle which is fed the spent grains?
