Wort Aeration

Hi all, Im new to brewing network and have a few questions I would love to get some feedback on from all you experienced brewers out there. First up Im from NZ so some terminology I use may be a bit weird to you northern hemisphere brewers. I have been brewing for a while now and gradually upgarding my kit and buying new additions when I can. My first question is about aeration in the wort. Im sick of having to shake the shit out of it every time I brew as Ive usally had a few bevies by then! Is it possible if I buy the air filter and aeration stone from a brew supply store and simply connect that to one of those air pumps that you use in fish tanks? Why you may ask, well the real mcoy is bloody expensive as its imported and the fish shop ones look the same and seem to work the same way for a fraction of the cost! Does this make sense or not? Dont wana sound like a cheap bastard but down here in NZ we seem to pay a arm and leg for anything imported! Look forward to hearing what you fullas think. Cheers

Welcome-

That'll work just fine. I'd get a HEPA filter so that any oils or other contaminants are filtered out before they go into the wort.

A friend bought one of the "real mccoys" (Northern brewer I think) and the pump box said aquarium pump.
