New Nebraska Brewer

Well...I wouldn't say I'm a brewer yet. Got the Mr. Beer kit as a present. Did what I'm assuming was supposed to be a Corona clone (just said Cerveza on the can). It...uh, sort of turned into beer. It was barely drinkable but I think there was several things I probably did wrong. I'm going to try the other can that came with the box (Pilsner) but actually go buy liquid yeast instead of the crap package of dry yeast that comes with it. Since it's a 2.5 gal deal, will just one vial work? I suppose I should go search that on my own in the forums here but I'm lazy and doing homework at the same time.

I think it would be difficult to do a lager with a Mr. Beer kit. But Mr. Beer kits are the gateway to extract and all grain brewing.

As they mentioned on Brew Strong recently, Mr. Beer kit or not, if you practice good sanitation, control ferment temps, and use quality fresh ingredients you'll make good beer.
