Looking for Brewers in Mid Hudson Valley to learn from

Mon Oct 21, 2013 6:38 am

I am somewhat new to the brewing world and am looking for anybody around Poughkeepsie NY
that might not mind an observer or helping hand the next time they brew.

I would love to find someone doing all-grain or brewing on a sculpture as this is the direction in which I would like to go.

I am more than willing to travel in the area.

Thank you!

Welcome to the BN Mike!

Do you have any homebrew shops near you? A lot of them will do brewing demonstrations.

Also, check out any local homebrew clubs in your area. You can search this directory (I see there is one in Poughkeepsie): http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/p ... ind-a-club

Saturday, November 2nd is the AHA's Learn to Homebrew Day. A lot of clubs and people get together and brew in parking lots of their homebrew shops and garages. The AHA maintains a list of these events (assuming the organizers post them) at the link: http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/p ... THD-events

Maybe one will be around you.

Again, welcome to the hobby and the BN. Ask any questions you have and you'll get answers.

Good luck.

You should PM Hessian Lake. He's a longtime BNer.
He lives in Highland Falls. I'm sure he'd be willing to teach you the ropes.

Thank you to both of you.

I am heading to my local National Brew Day destination on Nov 2.
Keegan Brewery in Kingston NY is hosting a few brewers in the parking lot and I will be able to see
them brew in brewery itself on a much larger scale.

I will PM Hessian Lake. Highland Falls is really close to me.

Thanks again!

There are 2 good Homebrew clubs in the area - one that meets at The Derby in Poughkeepsie and one that meets at Pantano's in New Paltz.

The guys up at Keegan are all tremendous as well.

In a somewhat related note - We have a home-brew shop opening Beacon NY soon and are looking to staff up. If you know of any home brewers who are interested in working at a home-brew shop, PM me.

Once we're open, we plan on planning some brew days, and we'd love to have you!

Personally, I'm down in Cold Spring - if you ever want to drive down to me, you are always welcome

I am very interested in joining the Hudson Valley Brewers after brewing with some of them this weekend up at Keegans.

I had a great day for National Learn How to Brew Day and Keegan has an amazing setup.

I am more than willing to travel to Cold Spring for a brew day.

Thanks for suggestions I am more and more excited about the possibilities here in this area.

When is the store supposed to open in Beacon? Looking for some place local to buy Juniper berries, specifically. Any suggestions welcome!
