Yet another newbie

Fri Feb 01, 2013 7:45 am

I picked up brewing a year ago with an extract kit from the wife for Christmas, now I have an entire rack of gear in my "man corner" of the basement. Thank you BN for helping me move to all-grain a month ago with two batches now under my belt. I have been picking my way through the archives of the Sunday Session on podcasts and it provides lots of great information and tons of entertainment. My last batch fermented so vigorously that I had to come home from work after my wife called me to say that the airlock was squirting wort al the way to the ceiling and her attempts to put a blow-off tube in only ended up with her getting a carboy faceshot. "Face-blast Belgian" maybe? It's a learning process but with the help of the BN hopefully my learning curve will be much steeper and the mistakes fewer.

Welcome.

I suggest you start back with episode 1 and listen to them in order. Far too many inside jokes, etc that you'll miss otherwise.

Or slow motion video perhaps? I wonder if she knew what she was getting herself into when she bought you the kit.

Believe me, if I had anything besides a colorfully worded phone call bringing me home from work, I would include it. That's just burnt into my memory though, not post-able. At least every time she mentions the hobby is a little more like an obsession, I get to remind her it was her Christmas present to me.
