Hey Im new

Sun Sep 23, 2012 2:17 am

Hello my name is Jamie. My dad is in the military so I was lucky enough to be stationed over here in Europe to try all the great beers. I am currently in Bavaria Germany. I use to live in California and Missouri. He won a homebrew competition in Missouri. I really don't know how this works but I've listened to numerous podcasts. It would be great if yall could get back to me and help me out with this (I'm not really good with technology). My dad is a real homebrewer and our last brew together was a Russian Imperial Stout. I really wish to become more of a member of the BNArmy. Is there perhaps a schedule of when the next comentaries are or whatever. I am aspiring to own my own bar after college and wold really like the support! Get back to me thanks. :bnarmy:

If by commentaries, you mean live show, there is one tomorrow evening (Monday) at 6PM Pacific Time... not sure what time that will be for you, but it'll be sometime in the middle of the night... Following the Brewing Network on facebook and twitter is useful for finding out when shows are, as well as checking the home page, usually only the Sunday Session is updated with upcoming broadcasts there though.

Not sure if a tumblr is anything that has been mentioned or thought about. You're already doing one thing to be a more active member by taking part in the forum. The two most useful buttons are the "View your posts" and the "View active topics"... you can read and weigh in on threads that are currently being discussed, as well as track those that you've previously posted in. Feel free to ask any questions you have (though some attempt at a search to find the answer is usually appreciated... sometimes the search here doesn't work, I search the BN though google).

I'm sure you could 'gain some ground' by starting a thread and talking and posting pictures of places you can go in Germany... most of us haven't experienced German beer culture first hand.

If you have questions on how the forum itself works, check the FAQ, a lot of things are already in there.

The second way to be come more active is tuning in during live shows and taking part in the live chat. When they are broadcasting, there are usually at least a few dozen fellow members hanging out and talking about everything from Imperial Stouts to big black dildos...

Third would be listening to the archived episodes, which it sounds like you've been doing. They don't let you interact directly, but will give you a sense of what the BN is, as well as serve as your introduction to the group of people that make it up, both in studio and in forum. There are lots of ongoing jokes that one would need to listen to archive to pick up on as well.

Another way to be 'active' is as a donor... no obligation, especially since you're new, but thought I'd throw it out there since you'd asked. Donors can sign up for recurring monthly donations and be entered in monthly drawings as well as get advance notice on some things (ticket sales, items, etc). There is also the BN store if you decide you like this band of misfits enough to identify to the world that you listen to these programs. Running into a stranger wearing BN gear is always fun.
