I am a newbi from the Deep South. I bottled my first brewing yesterday from an extract kit. I couldn't wait the two weeks so I tasted one. Of course, it was flat, but I was very pleased with the taste and can't wait until it's drinkable. I joined this Forum to learn this craft. I want to stay with extract brews at first, then move into AG. I would like to ask members to recommend some simple, affordable extract recipes for light'ish beer. Also, please recommend good suppliers for the extract, etc. As I build my experience and equipment up I will more to more complex AG recipes.
Thanking you in advance for any assistance.

Regards,
DF

Welcome aboard! Glad to hear you got your first batch underway and in the bottles. Sounds like its time to get another batch rolling along so you don't run out. Have fun with the crazies here!

Cheers -

If your dixie wrecked, find a warm wet spot where you can put it!

Welcome-

Here's an extremely simple recipe for a light colored beer that is tasty as all hell and extract-friendly:

German Hefeweizen

6 lbs Wheat Dry Malt Extract (or 6.6 lbs liquid wheat malt extract)
1 oz Hallertaur 4% AA @ 60 mins
1 smack pack Wyeast 3068 Bavarian Hefeweizen Yeast

Bring your water to a boil.
Take off the heat.
Add the wheat malt extract, stirring carefully to avoid lumps. Get it all to dissolve
Bring it back to a boil, until you hit hot break
At hot break, add your hops and set the timer to 60 mins
Boil for 60 mins, then remove from heat
Chill to 68F
Aerate well
Pitch yeast
Ferment for 10-14 days at about 68F until krausen is completely fallen
rack to your bottling bucket, on top of 5.5 oz corn sugar (7/8 of a cup) which was sterilized by boiling in about a pint of water, Bottle
Let them carbonate for 2 weeks at about 70F.
Chill, & serve

HTH-
