hi all
to answer your question snowcapt the 2 kits I did were a St Peters IPA and a Woodfordes Golden Ale which I'm sure you don't get over in the US but they're popular kits over here and they give good results for minimal effort. I then did 3 extract brews of an APA called "Way To Amarillo"
http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/Recipes-american-ipa and the first 2 of those were a real eye opener!
The last one I added honey to after the boil and it just went wrong.. Some of the bottles of it were good (I mix between bottles and mini kegs) but the mini kegs were just undrinkable and they went down the drain. After that I went on an intro to full mash beers course run by a local homebrew store and when I saw how easy it was I decided to bite the bullet and go all grain and am so glad I did!
I started with a standard bitter which turned out real nice.. my brewday was seriously long though but enjoyable! I've since done a Bathams bitter clone (light bitter) which is a local brew to where I grew up.. that was so nice I've only got a few bottles left of that which I'm trying to keep and my last was a London Pride clone which is currently conditioning.
There's book over here called "How to Brew Your Own British Real Ale" by Graham Wheeler which is a bit of a homebrew bible as it's full of recipes to recreate some great beers and this is where most of my all grain attempts are currently coming from. I've got another brew day coming up this weekend which is going to be a mild which is another drink I grew up with!
How about you snowcapt, what do you brew/drink?
