Funny happening with my first post

Mon Jul 11, 2011 6:14 pm

Hey y'all.

Been hanging out around here for quite some time without posting, gleaning lots of great info from those of you who have been brewing longer than I. Have also greatly enjoyed listening to the podcasts and enjoyed meeting Justin in the parking lot at Morebeer a while back. I just happened to show up on the Sunday morning they were preparing to do the TV show in the parking lot there.

I'm a 56 year old guy in who has thought about brewing my own beer for years and finally got started back last November. Signed up here sometime back but never posted until yesterday in the

"

My Pliny The Elder T-shirt and an odd meet up" thread. This thread is about a fellow who met Vinnie's Uncle Joe.

alan_marks, a poster here, responded in the thread with a line from the theme song to the '60s Sitcom"Petticoat Junction."

alan_marks wrote:...so thats Uncle Joe, he's a moving kinda slow at the junction...

I thought that was witty so I responded with the next line of the theme, "Petticoat Junction."

Since it was my first post I was informed that it would have to be approved by a Mod before it appeared on the board. No problem, thinks I.

Apparently the Mod who reviewed my post is under forty years old and never heard of the show Petticoat Junction because the following appeared in my gmail account today:

Weird first post.

I got a good laugh out of this. I will have to remember to avoid any more '60s Pop Culture references until I have a few more posts under my belt. Dear Mod, not so weird if you consider that I was simply providing the next line in the song that alan was quoting.

Cheers, y'all.

Yes I'm under 40. Yes, you're weird. Yes, I disallow anything in first posts that strikes me as odd.

YES - You will fit in great here! Welcome to the insanity. It's my job to keep the spam at a minimum, sometimes I reject perfectly good posts. Nothing personal. Thanks for introducing yourself.

LOL. I have enjoyed a number of your posts, BadRock. I didn't take it personal. I just figured somebody who was under forty and never saw Petticoat Junction on Nick at Nite or TVLand had said, "What the hell is this guy talking about?"

Welcome and yes you will fit in quit well. I am 51, so keep the 60's TV references coming, that is what reruns are for.
BTW, Petticoat Junction was a show about 3 hot country girls who bath outdoors in the train's water tank.

Maybe you should have mentioned that Benji was the dog in the series. I'm sure BadRock watched Benji. :asshat:

I had totally forgotten that Benji started his TV career as Uncle Joe's dog!
