Hello all,
I just want to say hello to all you beer lovers!
Me and the boys here got our start in Jan. '06. It started with a homebrew set and and extract kit. By the good graces of being persistant, getting good tips from the brewcasts, and reading and experimenting, we've become All-grain brewers within a month and a half. It helped that my father had a knack for collecting restaurant-type equipment, so my first expenses besides little things and raw materials were a wort chiller and a temp control box for a keggerator. Kegging came into the picture early also and we just force carbonate now. I am excited to be in touch with the network here, good god, its has led to us making really good beers already! I am right down the street from youse guys- Speyeder and Portly...in Collegeville.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Brewcasters and brewpeeps. To answer some questions, "the boys" are actually MY boys, stepson aged 24, son aged 23, son aged 19, stepdaughter's boyfriend aged 25, and all associated douchebags. My stepson is my brewing partner, ol' "hop-pot-head"...errrr did I say that?
The equipment isn't all that impressive, I mean my brewing equipment. I have an interesting mashtun, its made from a 5 gallon "aer-void" stainless steel vacuum can that is made for food service and it can hold a mash temp stable pretty much as long as anyone could possibly need it to.
We are still using an 8 gallon turkey frying pot for the boil kettle, and ferment in the many empty 6.5 gallon grape juice buckets left from my dad the old Italian winemaker. We do use an immersion chiller, and now we need to work on our fermentation temps a little more. We are getting there!
I just did score a 30 gallon SS pot from the old man and want to start doing 10 gallon batches.
Salut!
Ben
