Extract Noob

Fri Jun 23, 2006 11:54 pm

Hi all, glad to be here. This looks like a great forum! Just about to brew up my 3rd extract batch, 1st and 2nd have both been a great success. Kind of freaks me out a bit, I've had no real f-up's but I credit that to guys like you who are so very willing to share your wealth of knowledge with us new guys. 1st was a Light American Ale, and the 2nd a Raspberry Wheat. Going for a Hef this weekend. Learned alot from B3's forum, and just found this one. Only real problem is trying to mail order liquid yeast to this God forsaken desert, it's just way too hot and I won't pay the freight for next day air, that makes for some expensive beer! My local brewery's gonna hook me up, so problem solved :P

Welcome to the dark side, baby! I wish that I had found something like the BN when I was on my first batch! I had probably brewed 75-100 batches by the time that I joined the BN. However, in the 5-10 batches that I have brewed since the BN started, the quality of my beer has dramatically increased. I'm an idiot brewer, but fortunately for me there are a lot out OUTSTANDING brewers who frequent this site. As a new brewer, you can be asured that as questions arise, which they will, there are people here that have gone before you and have likely had similar questions and experiences. They will be able to be not only supportive, but also helpful in trying to steer you clear of doing too much learning the hard way (although we have all learned the hard way in this hobby several times and so will you). The BN is like cocaine, you'll get hooked.
