Back to brewing.

My name is Todd and Im a brewing addict.

I have been brewing all grain since I was 19 years old, 1989. I started with a cooper’s brewing kit I bought off a friend, his parents gave it to him for Christmas but he didn’t want it. I switch to extract brewing on my second batch and all grain on my third. By that time I was an addict. I was using all home made equipment on the kitchen stove. Brewing sessions with sanitization and mopping up when I was done took about 10 hours but I still managed to pump out 10 to 15 gallons a month in 5 gallon batches.

Five years ago I was fed up with brewing in the kitchen of my 1 bedroom apartment. I swore I would not brew until I had the proper equipment and facilities so I started saving. I’m now married and with my wife’s approval and participation I’m happily brewing in the garage of my house on a B3 1550.

Getting the wife on board with your brewing habit rocks! My wife fully supports my adiction as well, and I never really realized what a rarity that was among homebrewers until I attended some homebrewing events and she became basically the belle of the ball with the local homebrew clubs (as the guys were amazed that she not only tolarated my habit, but actively supported it). By the way, Dr. Scott, that has to be about the most disturbing avatar I've seen yet, except for probably Justin's!

Cheers!

Yeah, that kind of support is great. My Wife is not only fully supportive, but when she goes to my LHBS they are more than willing to help. Also, she knows what a decoction mash is, and she does not like beer! That means I can talk to her about Mash Enzymes and recipes I am working on, but she consumes nothing.

That's a sweet deal! Although, I do like a girl who knows how to drink a good stout or barleywine even if it dwindles my stash a little faster.
