In the old DND the Kobold is a doglike creature, however in the current updated game, the Kobold is repilian creature... like a lizard-man. Calling a goblin a gremiln is a bit of a misnomer... the gremlin is more of a creature, or animal, usually associated with being mischevious and messing with machines and causing general mayhem. A goblin would be more of a humanoid (disfigured in appearance) with attributes more closely related to humanoids such as intellegence, the use of tools and weapons, organizing in hordes for community, and other such traits.
