New User in Milwaukee

I am an avid homebrewer living in the Milwaukee area. I've been brewing for 13 years, and make some passable beers. Ive been entering contests for the past 6 years, and have a wall full of ribbons and awards. I am also in the soft drink business, and as such, come across loads of kegs, regulators, CO2 tanks, dispensing equipment, tap handles, tools, and so forth. This is fortunate for my hobby. I am also a BJCP Certified Judge, and have been judging in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. My bar was taped for a show called Beer Nutz (available on Hi Def), the Milwaukee edition. I also make mead, wine, and cider. I currently have either on tap or ageing a Bavarian Weissbier, an American Barleywine, a Robust Porter, Koelsch, Dry Stout, Imperial Stout, Octoberfest, as well as several meads. I keg virtually all by beers, and then Counter pressure bottle for contests. I am a member of the Beer Barons of Milwaukee. I have recently started downloading podcasts from TBN and Jamil - I find these shows tremendously helpful in fine tuning my brewing processes. What a great Hobby!

Welcome, Brotha! Sounds like you've got plenty to teach some of us around here about brewin with all those awards! Anyway, it's great to have another new user on the forum. I know that I've learned plenty from the others on this forum, which has helped improve my brewing techniques and, ultimately, my beers. I hope that you are able to have similar success!

hey there mr. big should we tremble when we say that? sounds like you'll be teaching as much as you're learning. wish i lived a bit closer to get an inside track on all that equipment you have access to. have fun. :P

I lived in Milwaukee for 18 years and my family still lives there. I make it back on a regular basis. We will have to grab a pint sometime when I am in town.

Good upcoming Wisconsin events include The Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison this weekend, Great Lakes Beer Festival September 16 in Racine. I'll be judging at that one. The Map Room is one of my favorite bars, though I don't get there very often. I grew up in Chicago.

I lived in Milwaukee for four of the finest years of my life...great town, under appriciated. I've also got family in Racine so maybe i'll have to check out that festival, unfortunately this year I'll be in Monroe, WI that weekend for "cheese days." God i love Wisconsin, beer and cheese what more could you ask for.

I have been downloading podcasts, and enjoy them immensely. (pardon me, I am going to grab a beer - a little barleywine). At some point, I'll submit to the flagellation you deftly dispense on your show. I have been successful at scoring equipment, with my garage filled with cold plates (both aluminum block and electric), corny kegs, 20 lb CO2 tanks and regulators (up to 6 line regulators). I just sold my excess inventory of used 3 gallon corny kegs to the guys that put on the Upper Mississippi Mash-Out. I really like the 3 and 2.5 gallon corny kegs. I look forward to further communications!
