From Western NY

Mon Mar 17, 2014 7:44 am

Just got started home brewing in December.

Started listening last month to learn more about brewing. Occasionally when I listen, whilst laughing my ass off, I do in fact learn something. Rarely is it about brewing, and rarely did I want to know it . . . but I'll keep listening anyway. :)

Keep up the good work!

Welcome. You should definitely go back and listen to the older show...lots of brewing information in there.

How did you first batch(es) come out?

It's been a bit of an obsession in the past two months. It's been a great escape as I close the door on a tough year.

A blood orange belgian witte, that I had to brew again over weekend at wife's request.
A bourbon barrel porter that is bottle aging, but is tasty young.
A dubbel that's bottle conditioning right now. I oxidized the crap out of this, and am not holding out much hope. I guess I should have read that chapter in Palmer's book before it splashed down in secondary. Ugh.
And a belgian strong/quad that is two weeks in secondary.

Looking for an IPA recipe to steal, or adapt, for my next brew day.

I've had some brew time to listen. Enjoying the older shows. Many thanks for info on beer smith. It's now installed on all of my devices and being used by a friend who taught me to brew.

Welcome aboard! Where in Western NY do you hail from? I live in Fredonia. Are you a member of any local brew clubs?
