Hello from down under Aus

Wed Jul 25, 2012 10:47 pm

Awesome web site, referred by a fellow forum user on the Coopers web page. I am a new brewer (3 brews down) but very keen on ramping it up from more than a can and a kilo. Have had some great success there but keen on using hops and culturing yeast. The Yeast part is actually starting to become a passion, so be prepared for my barrage of help questions  Listening to your podcast as we speak on yeast starters so hoping to get a grasp soon. Look forward to much learning from this forum and brewing great beers in the land down under :)

Welcome Benny! There are a lot of BNers down under. I feel that being able to control and decide your hopping is the biggest difference between kit and kilo and moving up to extract based recipes. Yeast is certainly important, but could still be improved on by someone still working on K&K batches. What parts of Aus you from?

Cheers brotha...always good to have more Aussies around...you will find yeast to be the biggest and most important factor in brewing...like somebody says, we just make the food, the yeast make the beer...or something like that...whew that Sierra Nevada Hoptimum is good! :aaron

G'day Benny, where you from? There's plenty of Aussies here. I'm in Western Sydney.

...and Branxton NSW (God's Country). Most important part of brewing is temperature control during fermentation; that and making sure you wash your balls too.
