Living in the West Virginia Beer Desert

Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:00 am

Hey I'v been listening for a long time and have posted once and a while, and realized I've never posted here. I live right outside of Charleston, WV but I'm originally from central VA. I've been into craft beer since I was 20 (8 years), and dreamed of home brewing since I was 24. I brewed my first extract batch the day after Thanksgiving this year. It was a an okay brown ale that took me two weeks to drink. Since then I've brewed an IPA (currently dry hopping) and an Imperial Stout (currently fermenting) that I'm going to age w/ some bourbon-soaked oak cubes.

Here in WV the beer selection is weak, but improving. So when I hear these great interviews w/ all these great breweries, I get really envious. Luckily, I ocassionally get to pick up some good beer when I leave the state.
