Jimbo, I brew all kinds of stuff. Ales for now. My first lager is in the planning stages.
I am in a "hoppy" phase at the moment. Lots of IPA, and PA. I made a shit ton of Janet's Brown Ale a ways back and it was fantastic. Going to do it again. Winter is coming, so I need to have some winter warmers, porters, and stouts on hand. Gotta love a good MN winter! :jnj

I'm also planning a lager over the coming months, finally got a place a can put the fermenter where it'll be nice and cold!

hi Sparge, I'm down in Streatham (unfortunately)! I've seen the london brewers thing before and like you, I've also meant to go along but haven't got round to it yet.. How are you finding the UK and our ales?

Jimbo,

I only moved down here from Newcastle, so am an accomplished cask ale drinker! :aaron

I must say that Newcastle is better for cask ale as there are more micro breweries in the area & loads of freehouses in the city.
Having said that London seems to be getting better than a few years ago when everything was either Fullers or Youngs.... plus there are now a lot of new "craft beer" bars to enjoy! :pop

You got anywhere cold to ferment the lager, or you going down the fermentation fridge route? I'm looking to get a fermentation fridge to get a bit of control over my fermentation temps; the neighbouring flats must have their heating on full all the time so its just too hot for me to ferment at the moment!

sorry sparge, I assumed you were american on this forum!

I'm from Dudley myself but I've been in London 10 years now.. I also prefer beers back home as I think we too have more micro breweries up that way although London is changing.. trouble is the cost of the beers from londons newer breweries definitely have london prices!

I was planning on lagering in my bike shed out the back once the winter comes, that should do the trick I hope.. although I've got to fix my boiler first! I was planning on brewing yesterday but each time I turned the boiler on it tripped the fusebox!
