Pics from Köln and München (That's Cologne and Munich to you

I was gonna post some pics here, but it turns out you have to have host space to do so, and I don't. So I posted them on the Brews & Views message board instead, here is a link to the thread:

Amazing city, München. I might have to stay an extra couple of days or so! The pic of me with the one liter stein is from the Augustiner Biergarten, but I have to say there were just too many people there for me. It had to be 600-800 people, and it just made me super claustrophobic

Oh Joques...I feel bad that the recommended biergarten made you feel claustrophobic...you should be happy that you are not at the Oktoberfest...because that might really freak you out...

Anyways....seems like you are looking for the cute little beer places...let me think...the Bratwurstgloeckel close to the Marienplatz has really great food and also a couple of decent german lagers on tab...right next door is the ANdechser am Platzel, a beautiful little place related to the monestary Andechs...Charlie Papazian describes the monestary in his book...I find their stuff really good too...

If you want to go on a brewery tour in Munich...try to get to the Augustiner one...it is like the most traditional beer Munich....

Haha, don't worry. I don't have a problem with crowds when I'm with friends, but right now I'm flying solo and that makes things a little different. I will definitely check out the places you mentioned!

The plan for tomorrow is to head to the English Garden (right next to my hotel) and go for a swim, have some beers, just relax...

Guess I have to check out the Weihenstephan brerwery too, if I can fit it in between all the drinking and relaxing 8)

up in Portland for the Brewer's Fest, but when I get home I'll find a way to link to the photo of me in the Augustiner Keller from about four years back. The Keller was an absolutely amazing find, but it's only open when the garten isn't.

My sister took the photo and has an orignial print hanging in her kitchen to remind her of what good food and good drink is.

Prost!

Now I'm going to have to figure out how to tell my wife where I'll be for a few months. I don't think she'll find me there.
Nice pics.

Bratwurstgloeckel has the best Nurnburg brats and serve Tucher brewed in Nurnburg and Furth (sometimes available in the US). They now have a packaging plant on the site of former Johnson Barracks where I was stationed 1978-1980
