I tried my first Cider last night in lieu of tonights TBN.
I must say, it was a lot better than I expected it to be. I was thinking it was going to carry a strong "wine" flavor. I was surprised to find it rather sweet, crisp, and refreshing instead. I'm actually considering making one of these now. It's not something i'd want to drink every day, but i'd like to have 5 gallons strapped away in bottles for days when i just got finished working on the yard.
so here are a couple questions.
I dont have an apple orchard around here, so what kind of juices should i look for... 100% apple juice, 100% apple cider?
How long should these age?
What are the appropriate co2 levels for cider?
What kind of yeast is best for cider?
Are clairifiers needed to produce a clear product?
Do my nuts smell like cheese, or does my cheese smell like nuts?
