Alright, here are my pictures (as of today) of my first year hops, all planted on April 23rd. All are on identical trellises (as best I could build them), and the hills are contained within forms I put over the ground. I hope this will lead to easy pruning and what not in the future.
Anyways, the four trellises (for the four different varieties) probably average about 12.5 feet high and around 10.75 feet across. I'm using coir yarn to train the hops. There are 2 rhizomes per hill, with me selecting the three best bines to climb.
Currently I have fertilized with high nitrogen bat guano, and will give high phosphorus bat guano once some start reaching the top of the trellis. After seeing Da Bear's results with Miracle-Grow though, I may give that a shot next year.
The pictures are as follows:
Cascade (full trellis)
Chinook (full trellis)
Liberty (close-up)
Willamette (close-up)
Cascade (close-up)
Chinook (close-up)
As evidenced from the pictures, the Cascade and Chinook are doing the best, whereas the Liberty and Willamette seem to have "stalled."
