I'm new here and was hoping to catch up via the archive before trying to catch the show live (east coast time and all) but it's just not gonna be the same without her. I think I'll have to cancel my plans for Sunday night so I can listen to Daniela's last (in-studio) show! I've listened to all but 1 show from 2005 in the last week and a half, maybe if I blow off work and sleep I can listen to 2006 in the next few days....
Best wishes in the new job.

Don't be in too much of a rush, Dave... being caught-up is painful.

Ken Wells wrote a book called Travels with Barley where he travels down the Mississippi from Minnesota to New Orleans in search of the perfect beer joint. There are some side trips as well (Portland, a hop farm in Wisconsin, a homebrew event in Houston etc).

The book is basically about the beer culture in America, and as he visits numerous bars and researches beer culture, one common element he finds associated with all great beer joints is what he calls the beer goddess. She’s the cute bartender that keeps the regulars coming in almost as much as the beer. She’s the St Pauli Girl. She is one of the most vital cogs in completing the beer culture because without her, the beer culture becomes a sausage fest. The perfect beer goddess is beautiful and intelligent. Fun loving and funny. She’s the girl next door and the unattainable beauty at the same time. . . and she enjoys beer.

The BN has become the perfect virtual Beer Joint for many homebrewers, beer drinkers, and beer lovers, and Daniela is a perfect beer goddess. There will now be a large hole in the BN. Good luck Daniela, and good luck Justin and crew.

Sometimes it seems surreal to me how you get to know people so well by listening to them so often - for me it's almost daily. Being a podcast listener with a somewhat short drive to work it seems I am almost always behind with the archives and the latest happenings, in this case blissfully - until now. All of our worlds change now and then, this change is sad for all of us but I do hope it's a great change for D. :(

Congratulations D! I'm sure you will kick some ass in your new job and anything else you do. You definitely rocked the BN and it's listeners. Please keep in touch with the BN Army and let us know how you are doing, how your beers are tasting and what is going on in the Old World. May you kick ass vi-gor-ous-ly. Cheers!

I've been working on a recipe for this weekends brew, either a Bock or a Marzen (it's March now, right?) depending on what it fits into when I'm done. It still needs a name so I think I'll mark the occasion of Daniela's departure by naming it in her honor. Maybe "Daniela is going Bock" or something like that.
Of course, being fairly new at this "writing original recipes" thing, I can't promise it will be any good, but I'm trying.
