Java hates me :(

When I try and log in to the chat room, the screen comes up and then my computer screen freezes. It will kinda flicker in and out, monitor will reset, sound might (or might not) cut out, and if I can't get the window to close it usually locks up completely. If I do get it closed, the screen will still flicker intermittently till I reboot. When I try to load the java console to look though there to see if something goofy is enabled, I get the same thing.

Any ideas? winxp sp3...

been there done that. no luck. removed rebooted, tried again. same result.

well what os are we talking about and what browser might be a problem with either one of those items

win xp service pack 3. mozilla 3 though I tried it under ie with similar results.

I have a webcam, but don't remember what flavor off the top of my head (outside cleaning kegs atm) or whether its hooked up (don't think so, but maybe?)
