You are correct Mr X - it is the continuation of a personal discussion between myself and SDMatt.

It is off topic here, I should not have responded as I forgot this was not in the "OFF TOPIC" area.

Are you going to boycott both ( #9 ) and ( 9# ) and continue drinking ( 9 ) from Duggan's Brewery instead?

I will say no more in this thread.

Post from Peter Egelston at Smuttynose who has been on both sides of these lawsuits. Note how he is reasonable and not a histrionic whiny bitch, try to emulate his example. Note that we now have to boycott Smuttynose too.

I just wanted to thank you for being bold enough to throw a sideways insult at all of us who wanted to voice our opinion on something that we don't think is right. It truly brightens my day to know that there are such open minded people out there, especially in the homebrew community.

I decided I'm not done. I also decided on a straight forward insult:you cry like a whiny sissy pants. put on your man balls and quit crying over something that doesn't directly involve you. maybe everyone should boycott the Beatles and Metallica because I don't like them. and mushrooms. and Willy Nelson. and Pepsi. and 98% of all the hefewissen's I've ever tasted.

and it's my personal opinion that you should STFU. now that's all for now.

My biggest pet peeve (aside from disliking the beer).

It just goes to show that MH doesn't really target the beer nerds out there, but the trendy niche hipster market. They are relying on the fact that the sector they advertise to won't have the beer knowledge/know how to be turned off by this label.

The success they've seen has come from powerful marketing (to the market in transition, not nec. the "beer nerds") and sales. The big merger with Pyramid shows their transition into a bigger corporate structure. I think as once small craft breweries start getting to this size, we will see legal action like this more and more. I understand the current founder and president should be able to influence the culture and hopefully support the greater good of the industry, but the suits have been moving in.

Just my opinion.

I actually toured bravaria brewery on the tour. Amazing malting facility (they malt a massive percentage of their own malt - 80+% if I recall)....

On the note about guerilla promotions... I've seen and heard this song and dance all before. I date (dated?) a girl who freelanced working a lot of promotions (think - the cute girls that go to bars trying to sell you on alcohol, beer, condoms, whatever). She was promo-ing a snus company - that openly admitted that the girls probably don't have the right to be promo-ing in public, and will most likely encounter businesses that will kick them out. They weren't happy about it, but sort cuts like this happen in the promotion/marketing world. Is it right? I don't know. Interesting none the less.

I don't think I know what a snus company is and as a result don't understand your story. How about some pics though? :D

Rather than (or in addition to) a boycott, which might be personal and useless, what about direct contact with the company? I'm sure that emails from those of us who notice will be more effective than subtracting our puny numbers from their large gross sales. Maybe MH needs to be reminded that there's more going on here than an unfortunately, (to their ownership and lawyers) seemingly necessary, legal protective stance.
