Post from Peter Egelston at Smuttynose who has been on both sides of these lawsuits. Note how he is reasonable and not a histrionic whiny bitch, try to emulate his example. Note that we now have to boycott Smuttynose too.

Boycott Magic Hat all you like; their #9 tastes like bad kool-aid.

However, please don't boycott Smuttynose! Their robust porter...yum...couldn't live without it

Ok...seems I may have spoken a bit harshly on this one...posting while drinking is bad :)

I guess I was speaking from an Eastern US point of view....There have been many times that Magic Hat
has been the only drinkable beer available in a smaller bar or restaraunt.

Heh, I already boycott Magic Hat because I don't like the #9 (it's about the only one of theirs you can find on tap here). Also, 'dudes of dichotomy', really?

On a side note, anyone else think that someone at Magic Hat is a bit out of touch when they name a beer "Vinyl" - a common off-flavor descriptor? Might as well call it "Vegetal"; once the image is there, it's hard for me to not look for it in the beer.

On another side note, I think that many of us in the North East have a soft spot for Magic Hat. Though I stopped drinking #9 a long time ago because I could find other craft beers that I preferred, they were one of our first widely available craft beers in the days when your only other non-industrial beer choices were Sam Adams and Pete's Wicked.

I agree, what a douche move by magic hat. I haven't seen their beer west of the Mississippi, but if I do I sure won't be buying any on trips to the midwest and east US.

Maybe Sesame Street should sue Magic Hat for all those episodes brought to us by the number 9. Douches.

I just wanted to thank you for being bold enough to throw a sideways insult at all of us who wanted to voice our opinion on something that we don't think is right. It truly brightens my day to know that there are such open minded people out there, especially in the homebrew community.
