I also qualified a few entries for this year's finals in May. You don't have to buy a shirt and the dude who runs it is really cool. He'll put your name on a restricted email list if you want, so you'll only get emails pertaining to the competition, not t-shirt sales.

Read up on the thought behind the competition, it really is pretty interesting that they are building (have built) a great competition that we should be proud of qualifying for. http://masterhomebrewer.org/about.htm
The qualifying competitions are held to some pretty decent standards. Looking through the list of qualifiers, you'll also see that they are some of the tougher comps throughout the US.

I ended up buying a couple shirts to support the administration. Well worth it IMHO.
Plus, bitches dig shirts that say you're a big deal! :mrgreen:
