word of caution on beersmith (which i have and love)....

the calcium chloride is messed up in the water section. If you use the water section that is. Calcium chloride is CaCl2, not CaCl. So it will be wrong for both calcium and chloride.

Other than that, it's what I like as well. Pro mash was clunky for me.

CaraHell is in the Weyermann Malts extension file which can be found here http://www.beersmith.com/Weyermann%20Malts.bsm

Actually, just check out the support page at http://www.beersmith.com/support.htm. You'll find a heap of grain extensions that can be easily downloaded and installed.

I was a Promash fan for a long time and have recently switched over to beersmith! I must say I like it better!

I had to reformat my computer and forgot to save Promash. I e-mailed Mr. Donavan and he sent me back my key code to download another copy. So, he is at least active in that respect. I have tried a few other recipe calculators and I still think Promash is the easiest to get around. I have been using it for over 7 years and I really can't see reason to use anything else.

I must still be the only guy out there using StrangeBrew anymore. www.strangebrew.ca I've tried all the major brewing softwares recently and I still think StrangeBrew has the most straight-forward and user-friendly interface. It hasn't been updated in a few years, but I don't need anything more out of it. It does everything I need. And Drew is really good about answering any questions in timely fashion.

Heck, I'm still using the Recipator. I don't think it's been updated in 13 years! Works for me, though.
