Saw this while shopping for kegging supplies. Wheat beer kit for $15 plus yeast. Choose from German style yeast (banana/clove) or American style yeast (neutral). 1.048 OG and 15 IBU.

I'm going to get a few of these if the sale is still going on Friday (payday).

If you take what I post here literally, you're retarded. I'm here to fuck around, have a good time, and learn about beer. You mean nothing to me and I mean nothing to you.

Don't flaked wheat and oats need to be mashed with a base grain?

I'm not sure. Seemed weird to me when I read over the recipe, as they are steeped 10 minutes only. A hefeweizen extract doesn't use specialty grains either. I'm going to get a couple kits and try one with the grains and one without, then compare.

I don't think they will add any fermentables so I'm not sure what benefit they will have to the beer; other than color maybe?

Those grains may add a bit of taste and perhaps mouthfeel, but no fermentables. What would concern me would be the starches. They will give you a haze that will look like an authentic hefe instead of depending on the yeast to give you that haze. The beer is meant to be drunk young. If you tried aging it, that starch might pose a problem.
