Shelf life of extract kits?

How long can you hang on to an extract kit without brewing it? Obviously the fresher the better, but I was curious if it would hurt to leave one around for a couple weeks or a month before brewing it.

If liquid yeast has a shelf life of 4 months I am going to say a month is not going to hurt the extract kit. Use within 6 months and you should be just fine.

Extract in a perishable item... Put it in the fridge, as well as your yeast-
Freeze the hops.
Once grains are cracked, they're really best used within 2 weeks...
DME will be okay for a longer period of time, but LME will start to grow stuff on the top if you don't store it properly.
I'd say use it within a month, if you need to go longer, cover the top of the LME with vodka to keep it sterile.
Sanstar will also work, but Vodka is better since you don't have to worry if you're mix is strong enough, etc...
Cheers!
