Help with a Memorial Beer please...

Brewing Brothas & Sistas,

Hope all finds you well. A person I met in my part of Kansas has asked for assistance from home brewers. He has one last bottle of a beer his dad brewed. Before he went to crack it, he saw that the recipe for the beer was on there. Thus he went on one of the local F---B--K communities and asked for help. My wife volunteered me and after talking to the nice guy, I want to help him.

Here is the Recipe with minor adjustments for rounding out the grain bill. %'s and SRM added by Brewsmith.

8.0 oz Caravienne Malt (22.0 SRM) Grain 1 4.2 %
4 lbs Amber Dry Extract (12.5 SRM) Dry Extract 2 33.9 %
4 lbs Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) Dry Extract 3 33.9 %
3 lbs 4.8 oz Pilsner Liquid Extract (3.5 SRM) Extract 4 28.0 %
2.00 oz Styrian Goldings [5.40 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 5 26.8 IBUs
1.00 oz Willamette [5.50 %] - Boil 20.0 min Hop 6 8.3 IBUs

There was also a blank of 4 oz of ________...

No call for yeast, so I'm making a call of....
1.0 pkg British Ale (White Labs #WLP005) [35.49 ml] Yeast 7

My question, any thoughts, comments, or recommendations...

I'm guessing this is a five gallon batch. Correct?

The last bottle? Did he get a chance to taste any of the other bottles?
Styrian goldings points me toward Belgians, though Willamette is not necessarily a Belgian hop.
What color was the beer? 4oz of something like Special B could steer this toward a Belgian dark strong if its the right yeast.
It certainly has enough malt to be a Belgian Strong ale.

Yeah if it's 5 gallons that's a strong beer. Either way you'll need way more than one pack or vial of yeast. You'll probably need 4 vials or two pitched into a 2L starter. Dry yeast is also an option.

5 gallon batch, yes...

I always use a starter, so we'll be set there.

As far as color/taste...All I've had so far is electronic communication with him.

Brew smith puts the starting OG as 1.078 35 IBU and 9.2 SRM.

The guy I'm helping has no ideas about much else of the beer. Just the fact that it was his dad's.
