Anyone ever done it? I have a book that tells how to, but seeing if anyone has any experiance. I plan on harvesting the rest in the next few days and then letting it dry for a couple weeks while I'm on vacation. I'll try malting sometime after I get home.

Any luck with the Amaranth? You've piqued my curiousity about the grain. I'd think malting it successfully would be quite a challenge. How about using it unmalted in a mash? I suppose you'll need to crack it though - they're pretty small seeds, will a standard grain mill do the trick?

I don't know yet. I haven't had time to try it. I should be able to get to it in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

I got started with a small test batch for the sorghum. It's 1.5oz of grain. I will let it soak for 18 hours then drain and rinse with cool water every 8 hours. Hopefully it will sprout in two or three days.

Is there a procedure you're following for this, or are you winging it?

I'm going on (not so good) instructions from this book.

Sorghum is going good. I'll try to get pics up in a little while.

Sorry it took me so long with the pictures. It's day 9 of rinsing the grain. It took a lot longer to get germination than the book said it would. I think that is because I harvested the sorghum to early. I've got about 50% of them sprounting right now and I will try kilning them in a day or so.
