I carved jack-o-lanterns with my kids this evening. I always roast the seeds and eat em up.
The thought of usimg them in a mash crossed my mind. Anyone ever do this?
I could even run them through my crusher. Just an idea.
Might even be a good one. Who knows?

just did this for a smoked pumpkin porter. roasted then smoked the flesh and the seeds. pumpkin seeds are real thin, when put through a grain mill most weren't much more than dented. if you really want them milled i'd imagine you'd have to adjust the rollers or pulse them in a food processor.

really have no idea if they contributed anything to the mash, but in my case i'd like to think they added a little depth to the smokiness. i say go for it.

I do know Elysian Brewing Co. mashes roasted/toasted pumpkin seeds in their Night Owl Pumpkin beer. It is my second favorite commercial Pumpkin beer besides Southern Tier's Pumking.
