Using Wheat and Flaked Maize together

I have a few ingredients left over and am planning a light ale for my non craft brew drinking friends. I have:

6 lb Domestic 2 Row
1 lb flaked maize
1 lb Malted Wheat

maybe 15 IBUs of a low alpha hop.

WLP080 Cream Ale yeast Blend

Has anyone ever tried to brew with both Flaked Corn and Wheat? I may add .5 lb of cane sugar to dry it out a bit as per Jamil's Cream ale suggestion. I'm worried corn and wheat won't go well together. Any thoughts?

If your question is "why would I want to use wheat and maize together"?, I think Doc's answer applies "Because you can!"

I haven't, but I say go for it and report back.

Sounds like a nice experiment to me.

Another variation might be to add a bunch of late C hops and then add enough 60 min hops to target your bitterness to between 20 and 25 IBUs. This is to try to steer them towards more hop flavor and possibly break them of the fizzy yellow piss habit.
Then, they won't be in shock as you step them up to pale ales, amber ales, IPA, etc.

Just so everyone is aware, this beer was pretty good. Could have done without the wheat but it was subtle. Cream Ale yeast blend was fantastic. Still a big hit with the crowd that thinks all homebrewers brew "dark beer."

6 lb Domestic 2 Row
1 lb flaked maize
1 lb Malted Wheat
.5 lb of cane sugar

15 IBUs US goldings 60 mins

Drop the wheat and add a pound of rye malt and change the hops to saaz at the same IBU level and you will have one of my favorite summer beers. I think my rye cream ale recipe is floating around here somewhere, but I think this will work just fine.
