after inspection, I found several bine tendrils in my wet hops delivery, and several seeds after drying what I hadn't used!
I'm currently trying to get the tendrils to root.
Question: what are the chances I will be able to get viable plants from the seeds of these <possibly proprietary> hops?
...and what are the chances these plantings from seed would display the completely unique properties of the parent plants?

Not sure on the bines... typically it would be the underground rhizome that would give you a new plant, but I know that they will bury bines to generate more rhizome. Stick it in some dirt and cross your fingers. As far as the seeds, I doubt you will get anything good from them. For most of the highly prized strains, they are clonally reproduced (through cuttings of the rhizomes). If you have seeds in your cones, they will be the product of the female plant that produced them and some unknown male plant. They could be awesome, or they could be crap, but if you can get them to take, give it a try, 50% of the genome of your embryo will be from the proprietary strain. A number of common hops were discovered in a similar manner if you look back through hop lineages. Keep in mind that half of your seeds may be male, and not useful for brewing.

well, I am getting some luck with one of the bine tendrils! It seems to be taking water nicely, now for it to start to root.
as for the seeds, I'm sure there will be no chance I will get pure Simcoe, but something real close would be quite something indeed!

Wishing I'd thought to do something with the citra tendrils we got in our fresh hop shipment.....

If there are any willow trees in your area you can cut off a few branches and chop them up (fine) and soak them in a few liters of water a let them soak for a day or so. You now have "willow water" which helps to promote root growth. (See if you can get a bunch of roots to sprout to keep that hop plant alive!)

-I didn't even think of this but I'm now tempted to put in an order of Citra wet hops every year hoping to get a viable plant out of it. Stupid delicious, proprietary hop varieties!

Or possibly rooting hormone .... a garden center near you might have it

well, the bine tips are rooting!!! ...clearly a hardy plant!
Next year I'm getting all the wet hops I can and creating my own 'Freedom Fighter' hop yard!
