Irish Moss and Chill Haze

I made an Arrogant Bastard clone using extracts and specialty grain and it called for 1 pkg. of irish moss at 15 mins. 1 pkg at my LHBS was 1 oz. so that's what I used. I cheated (I opened a brew 4 days after bottling it) and in the light it looked like tea with a splash of milk in it. It tasted fine, aside from the obvious low carbonation, and after it warmed up a bit it seemed to clear up to a plain tea colour. Is this chill haze? It's the only brew I've had this happen to so far. Even my Hefe was clearer than this looked. Was 1 oz. irish moss too much? Any facts/opinions appreciated.

Did you rehydrate the irish moss prior to use? If not you should. 1oz seems like a lot to use. I think when I was using it I usually used about 1tbls per 5 gallons. Get some whirlfloc. Much easier to use. Throw in 1 tab per 5 gallon.
All that said I have no idea if using to much would give you problems

No I didn't rehydrate. The recipe didn't say anything about rehydration and this was my first time using irish moss. Guess I'll try that next time. Thanx.

according to one of my books irish moss should be used at a rate of 5g per 25 litres which to you is a small teaspoonful in a 5.5 gallon batch. otherwise it has the opposite effect and stabilises protein in the wort. if you've already bottled you're just going to have to wait it out and see if cold conditioning makes it drop out. if you've kegged then isinglass can counteract too much irish moss. if not and it tastes good use some pewter pint pots to drink it from.
